II of Cups

Two souls

intertwined

Your emotions have begun to overflow and now you're ready to share them.

The II of cups is symbolic of an emotional partnership. In the Hermetic Tarot it is known as ‘The Lord of Love.’ Two figures exchange cups ceremoniously to become one. They may either represent two individuals or the duality within ones self. The swirling smoke coming from the cups represents a successful intermingling of opposites

This card oversees the first decan of Cancer and is ruled by the planet Venus.

In a reading this card may point to successful partnerships, budding romance, or self love. The relationships represented by this card are positive and harmonious.

The reversed could mean that you are not allowing yourself to be open to a relationship or that a relationship may be coming to an end.

Bonus: The II of Cups is one of my personal favorites. (I'm a romantic and a water sign.) I even made my husband pose for an engagement photo based on the Smith Waite illustration. Photo credit to The Lees Photography.
