Sundae Spread

Sundae Spread

I think it probably happens to everyone sometimes. You’ve had a nice, relaxing weekend that broke up the monotony of life and made you forget your to do list for a couple of days, but then Sunday evening rolls around you feel overwhelmed by the burdens of the week ahead. I needed a way to put those feelings in perspective, so I created this spread to use as a ritual to combat the Sunday blues. I don’t know about you, but when I’m sad I reach for ice cream

When you look at your week ahead does it feel like a slog or a gift? Imagine it as a build-your-own ice cream sundae. Vanilla ice cream is boring on its own, but you can add your favorite toppings and turn it into a real treat. Of course, sometimes, it may not turn out exactly as you want.

Sundae Spread

Type: Self-Reflection or Querent Driven

Level: Intermediate

1-4: The Vanilla Ice Cream. Four cards in a square that form a picture of the practical aspects of your week. What will the day to day look like? This area will be stable and predictable, even if it’s not the most exciting.

5-6: The Whipped Cream and Toppings. These cards represent fresh possibilities that will add a little flavor to your week. They may be gifts, but it’s also possible to get something you don’t like.

7: The Cherry on Top. This card represents the overarching theme of the week. Is your cherry fresh and sweet or a little rotten? Either way, use this seventh card to set an intention to move forward into your week with and imagine it already so.

My Spread

The Vanilla Ice Cream. The majority of my time is spent exploring my ideas, ambitions, and inspiration, but I may be moving towards them too fast. There is something I’m not seeing clearly and because of that I may need to reevaluate my best course of action.

The Toppings: There is a possibility of discord and discouragement in my life this week. Being too focused on what I don’t have may throw me off balance.

The Cherry on Top: The High Priestess reversed appeared in this same spot last week…So there must be something I’m still missing or lacking awareness about. This reinforces the message of the first four cards as well. I will strive to reconnect with my intuition to figure out what that is.

I hope the outlook for your week looks better than mine!
