The Pursuit of Power
The Hero of Wands is a restless young soul. A spark of yearning within compels them to travel south to seek out new forms of inspiration and power.
They take a moment to contemplate leaving the comfort of their home to set off on what will certainly be an arduous journey. With the whole universe in front of them, they must only choose a direction.
After making the necessary preparations, they set off with optimism, enthusiasm, and a clear target in sight—all the ingredients for success. They shoot for the power of the stars.
Upon returning to their kingdom, they are given a hero’s welcome. They bask in the happy, peaceful feeling of coming home.
However, the new power and expanded perspective they acquired on their journey is threatening to some. Rivals appear to challenge them in a clash of ideas and points of view.
With powerful will and an open mind, they emerge victorious. The community continues to publicly celebrate their achievements.
Resentment continues to build until what was once a friendly rivalry becomes an all out war for control. They go on the defensive in order to protect themselves and their status.
They see an opening to escape and soar higher, further, and faster into the sky, but danger still looms close behind.
They take temporary refuge in in the clouds, but with the permanent target on their back the battle is never-ending. Their power begins to fade, but they are determined to continue the fight.
In the end, the weight of their power and responsibility proves to be too heavy a burden. Even as they plummet from the sky, they are still unwilling to let go.
