Autumn Altar & Mabon Spread

Autumn Altar & Mabon Spread

Sometimes it’s hard living in Texas. I grew up in a place where we had four seasons, but that isn’t the case here. So, I always get a little depressed around this time of year, despite the fact that it’s my favorite. This year, I decided to set up a little fall altar to try to summon that fall feeling. I used pumpkins, birchwood from my wedding, cinnamon sticks, a real leaf from up north preserved in resin, some fake leaves and an apple, candles that smell like the woods, and a variety of crystals that resonate with the season (honey calcite, blue agate, jasper, aventurine, citrine, clear quartz, and garnet.)

The Autumnal Equinox coincides with the time we celebrate the harvest festival of Mabon. It’s a time to let go of the summer, be grateful for its gifts, and look forward to the second half of the year.

I wanted to create a simple spread to connect with those ideas and set myself up for the coming season.

  1. Something to let go of or a lesson to be learned with the passing of summer.

  2. Something to be grateful for.

  3. A blessing yet to come this autumn.

This is a very simple one, so just sit back with a nice cup of tea, light your favorite autumn candle, and take a moment to reflect on what makes this season so special.
