Interpreting Dreams with Tarot

Interpreting Dreams with Tarot

Why worry about dreams?

Dreams can be a tricky beast sometimes. Some of them don’t need a lot of interpreting, like the classic late for class nightmare, but there may come a time that you have one of those dreams that completely vexes you or haunts you night after night. Some say dreams are simply the result of the brain trying to process and remember the important parts of the day’s events, but others say they are a manifestation of our subconscious desires. So of course, what better way to tap into that than with the tarot?

I believe it’s particularly important for those with strong intuition to analyze and interpret their dreams in order to not miss out on any critical messages. There are also times when intuitives and empaths can pick up on the feelings and emotions of someone else and receive messages that aren’t even meant for them or are trying to warn them about another person. That's when dreams get really confusing and muddled and need to be carefully considered. This often happens to me.

Try this spread when you have a dream that you just can’t reconcile with on your own.

Dream Spread

Level: Intermediate

Type: Self-Reflection or Querent Driven

  1. Emotion - What is the core emotion at play here? What is the source of this emotion in reality?

  2. Energy - What energy does this dream carry? Who or what is the source of this dream energy in reality?

  3. Desire - What are your subconscious desires? What are you longing for in reality?

  4. Agitator - What is the main obstacle in your dream? What external force is stirring the pot?

  5. Intuition - What is your intuition trying to tell you? What have you been ignoring in reality?

  6. Message - What is the main message of the dream? What is it trying to tell you about reality?

  7. Action - What are you trying to do in the dream? What action is it calling you to take in reality?

This spread is set up like a mirror. For each question, there is a card that represents the dream (top) and one that represents reality (bottom).  Consider their meaning as a pair carefully to get the most out of this spread. It’s likely that you will get a lot of reversals as the subject matter will pertain to very personal things that you are avoiding or unaware of. As you can see from my spread below it’s almost all reversals.
